Why My Big Rocks: Samantha to Danielle

Bigs: Mentors, best friends, shoulders to cry on and so much more.

An interview with Samantha Sturtevant on her big, Danielle Farrar:

My big rocks because she is real. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her, and I love that! She’s so funny, outgoing and is always there when I need her.”

My “love story” with my big actually started on Bid Day. She was one of the first people I met at the house. So when we went on a sponsor date and found out we had met earlier, we clicked right away especially while talking about our love of VH1 countdown shows. We only went on one sponsor date, but we both knew we had found our big/little pair.”

My big is always there for me no matter what. I can tell her anything, and she doesn’t judge. She was really there for me when I was going through a rough patch during spring semester. I was just done with school, people and just wanted to go home. But she calmed me down, talked me through it all, and made me feel a lot better and not so homesick. I will probably always be thankful for that moment.”

Spring 2014 Big/Little Night

One of the best days of Panhellenic life: BIG/LITTLE NIGHT!

Sponsor dates, crafting, sparkles and T-shirts explain the outer appearance of preparing for Big/Little Night. Big/little pairing is so much more than that, though. Finding a big is finding a mentor. Finding a little is learning how to be a mentor. It’s always having someone to look up to. It’s always being able to depend on someone.

When you receive a big, you also receive a family. When pairing bigs and littles together, the family is also considered. It’s a work of art, and it’s a magical process. Snaps to all the Sponsor Chairs out there who pair the bigs and littles together. Panhellenic life would not be what it is today without big/little pairings.

For our spring 2014 Big/Little Night, the bigs were wrapped in wrapping paper where only their socks were exposed. Once the littles arrived at the house, they were given socks that they had to match to a sister wrapped in wrapping paper. It was quite a show watching the littles try to unwrap their big.
